My Journey to Meaningful Giving
Randi Hogan, CAP®
President, Hogan Philanthropy Consulting LLC
“In my practice, I strive to affirm every human being’s worth and dignity and take an approach that contributes to just outcomes and personal and social transformation. Centered in our work together are the communities we serve.”
I believe in the transformative power of philanthropy.
I’m passionate about connecting people like you with organizations and movements taking on challenging and important work in the world. If this is a path you are on now, or one you want to explore, I’d love to meet you.
What Draws Me to Philanthropy
For over 25 years I have worked inside exceptional nonprofits, building relationships with marginalized and vulnerable communities, and advising donors on making significant charitable gifts to fuel sustainable change. I learned early in my career that change efforts are successful, effective, and meaningful when the whole community is engaged in creating solutions together. The experience itself becomes transformational.
I founded Hogan Philanthropy Consulting to harness my knowledge and extensive experience to help people like you become more informed and engaged givers and invest your wealth in purpose.
Why I’m Different
As an independent philanthropy advisor, I’m entirely focused on you, and I personalize my approach to meet your goals. I am not beholden to an institution or bank, I am not financially incentivized to encourage you to direct your money in a particular way, I do not represent nonprofits, I will not assign you to an associate, and I do not have a fixed template for our work together.
In me, you have a trusted guide, an astute listener, and discreet advisor as you navigate the journey to giving more boldly and getting more involved to create positive change in our world.
Why I’m Credentialed
In an evolving field where advisors with a variety of backgrounds are offering charitable planning, you want to be confident that your philanthropy advisor is knowledgeable, capable, and experienced. After many years of leadership in nonprofit organizations, I pursued the designation of Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® from The American College of Financial Services, which equips its professionals with a common body of knowledge. The cross-disciplinary, graduate-level curriculum spans and synthesizes the arts and sciences of philanthropic planning, including taxation, finance, fundraising, purposeful planning, family dynamics, psychology, and strategic philanthropy. Additionally, I am a 21/64 Certified Advisor in multigenerational advising, facilitation, and training within family philanthropy.

Kind Words
“Randi Hogan helped our nonprofit organization develop a major donor campaign to establish an endowment fund to carry on advocacy on behalf of migrant farmworkers. She has been creative, strategic, organized, focused on important priorities, and timely, as well as a pleasure to work with. Randi enabled us to establish an infrastructure that we've never had before and trained our staff to carry out major fundraising efforts in unprecedented ways.”
— Bruce Goldstein, President, Farmworker Justice
“Randi immediately won my trust with her nimble, skillful action that propelled us forward. [We] could not have achieved such an incredible impact without Randi’s strategic guidance, expert advice and direct work from day one. She laid out a clear philanthropic plan in support of our vision and bolstered our confidence in our ability to succeed, all of which catapulted our initial ideas to the next level.””
— Ellie Linen Low, philanthropist and community advocate
“Randi is an excellent strategist and understands how to communicate complex information in simple ways. She has the best interests of her clients at heart and has a very deep knowledge of non-profit management and resource development. Randi's insights provided my organization with a plan for smart revenue growth and laid the groundwork for developing a culture of philanthropy. Her work with us had a huge and lasting impact.”
